Around a hundred mourners, most of them regulars at The Rose of Denmark, went this afternoon to a rainy Falconwood Crematorium to say their farewells to Dave Fowler, the RoD barman for many years.
The CofE minister quoted Churchill during her eulogy and said that Dave had been 'a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma'. I think she hit the nail clean on the head. We all thought we knew him, but in reality we knew almost nothing about him at all. In spite of this we'll miss him a lot for the little we did know.
